WYCLEF Jean and Fatboy Slim have been tapped as the main groovers at the Malaysian F1 Grand Prix post-race party on April 4. Set to be held at the Sepang Circuit, the outdoor event will also see regional and local names added to the bill.

No stranger to Malaysian shores, both rapper Wyclef and Brit dance maverick Fatboy Slim have played in Kuala Lumpur previously. They will be the crowd-pulling acts again next month and both men will be out to top the 15,000 fans that turned up at the Sepang venue to watch Jamiroquai last year.

Wyclef, renowned for his humanitarian work, has been busy helping out the earthquake victioms in his native Haiti.

The 37-year-old rapper, who made a name for himself with the multi-platinum outfit Fugees in the 1990s, has also established a solid solo career and been a prominent force in hip hop. A new album is on the cards for Wyclef, who already has solo hits like "Ghetto Religion," "We Trying To Stay Alive," "Hey Girl" and "Gone Until November" to his credit.

Hailing from Brighton, England, Fatboy Slim (real name Norman Cook) is a good bet to get the crowd into a frenzy with a career of built from big beat anthems and big party deejay notoriety.

He has worked on an eclectic spread of collaborations in recent years, including the Brighton Port Authority project and the upcoming David Byrne collaboration featuring music based on Imelda Marcos' life and times.

With a deejay set to roll, Fatboy Slim is not to be missed at Sepang next month.

Fatboy Slim has admitted he may never play another gig on Brighton beach.

But the Hove superstar has hinted he could still bring his big concerts back to his home city – and is already eyeing the new Falmer Stadium as a venue.

The DJ, real name Norman Cook, spoke about playing in Brighton as he was unveiled yesterday as the headliner for this year's SW4 festival in Clapham Common, London, in August.

He said it had become too expensive to put on the notorious Big Beach Boutique gigs in Brighton because of the cost of providing safety measures demanded by the authorities.

The last two concerts, in January 2007 and September 2008, had to be held with reduced numbers and tight controls to avoid a repeat of July 2002 when 250,000 revellers swamped the city.

Yesterday Cook said: "It's just too expensive to do it unless we get an enormous sponsor. I'd love to but it's just too difficult.

"But if we can't do it on the beach anymore maybe we can find somewhere else in the city. I hear there's a new football ground opening next year."

Brighton and Hove Albion director Cook, a dedicated supporter of the club, has often been rumoured to be the act lined up to open their long-awaited new 22,500 seat stadium at Falmer. His latest statement is the clearest hint yet those rumours will become reality.

Albion's chief executive Martin Perry yesterday said the club was supportive of the idea.

He said: "We would love to do a concert with him at the stadium but we have not had any talks about it as yet."
